Description:

My main desk setup consists of a wall mounted iMac Pro and two wall mounted LG 5K Ultrafine displays, one on each side. The whole set up is bolted to a 2 x 12 piece of lumber that it, itself is bolted to the wall across 4 different studs. This setup was put in place in April of 2018 and was the successor to a 2013 27” iMac that had two Thunderbolt displays connected to it, so a move from 3 x 2K displays to 3 x 5K displays was made and boy what a difference that was. The wall mount setup has been great as it keeps the desk clear and encourages me to keep things simple and out of the way while I work. The machine connects into my home network via a 10GbE link which greatly improves access to the storage server.

Uses:

This is the main edit/render station for all my photo and video work. Also the setup has lots of screen real estate which while very useful for the photo and video work, comes in very handy for doing code work as well. I can have a multitude of terminal windows open along with web pages and other consoles to allow me to see everything I’m doing while working on standing up/learning to deploy a new service on my home lab described on my “Main Home Rack” page.
